The ancient Medieval Castle of Paphos found in the harbour area of Kato Paphos, was initially a Byzantine fort constructed to protect the harbour. In the 13th century the Lusignans rebuilt the castle after it was destroyed by the Venetians during the Ottoman’s invasion in 1570. In the 16th century, when the Ottoman Empire ruled they reconstructed the quaint fort.
