Amazing sightseeing in Mykonos Island
Mykonos Island is one of the most beautiful Cyclades islands in Greece. Ancient Folklore Museum
The ancient Folklore Museum in Mykonos opens daily (except on Sundays) from around 4.30pm to 8.30PM and is located in Mykonos Town just next to Paraportiani. The museum is very popular for housing the famous 18th century sea (captain’s) house. Items preserved in the museum include collections of icons, furniture, sculpture pieces, folk musical instruments and textiles. The museum charges an entry fee of 2 Euros per person.
The Boni Mill Museum
Mykonos is widely known for its ancient windmills some of which are still functional to this day. The Boni Mill is well maintained and preserved windmill built back in the 16th century. The mill is still functional and features a customary wood oven made using stones.
Excursions and tours to Delos Island
Delos Island is adjacent to Mykonos Island with a boat trip from Mykonos Town to the island (Delos Island) taking about 35-40 minutes. Delos Island is an equally famous island as it is believed to be the birthplace of Apollos- an ancient god. Delos Island is uninhabited and features a sloppy terrain with a very green landscape. The island is very perfect for exploration and sight seeing. Excavations on the island open from 8.30AM-3PM. As such, for you explore the whole island you need to start early and wrap up before its closing time.
Mykonos Camping
Mykonos camp site is situated in Paranga Beach. This camping ground stretches out on a very expansive land overlooking the Aegean Sea. This camping ground has a café-bar, a (self –service) restaurant, a bike rental agency and a mini market. The camping site is perfect for budget conscious and young tourists. Camping charges for tents start at 12 Euros per person.
Paradise Beach Camping
This is a self contained campsite that features a beach bar, snack bar, self service restaurant, mini-market, a bike rental agency and a boutique. This camping site is more developed as compared to the Mykonos camp site. The camping site also hosts parties all night long. Camping charges on the island start from as little as 13.50 Euros upwards per person.
